The Smart Fortwo 2013

Smart Fortwo

The Smart ForTwo is the smallest car on U.S. roads; it’s less than 9 feet long. With surprisingly large interior, the new Fortwo is very easy to park. There’s also, plenty of headroom and legroom for the driver and passenger. Smart has also restyled the front and rear of the new Fortwo.

What’s new?

With its small size, the new Smart can be parked anywhere. It is specially built for an urban environment and provides only two seats. The car is good for the young teenagers. The 2013’s Smart comes with a 1.0 liter three- cylinder engine and stand out styling, which makes this two-seat couple so popular.

Trim levels and Appearance

The Smart 2013 gets mild exterior styling. The passenger cabin of the 2013 Smart Fortwo is very spacious; the see through roof panels and large windshield create an airy feeling. The driver’s and passenger’s seat offer too much amount of headroom and legroom. 8- Cubic foot cargo is so workable and located in the rear hatch. The Pure model doesn’t offer too much in interior however, the Passion model is much better in this regard.

Convertible and Coupe Versions

The new Fortwo is available in convertible and coupe versions. Two-seat coupes are offered in two more trim levels (pure and passion models), and convertible is presented in the passion trim level.

Pure Model

The pure trim level offers many standard features like 15-inch steel wheel, a leather wrapped steering wheel, power keyless entry, manual windows, power door locks, Cruise control package, air conditioning etc.,

Passion

The Passion model gives you 15 inch alloy wheels, automatic wipers, head lights, heated power outside mirrors, roof panels (see-through), power windows, automatic climate control, a steering wheel with shift paddles, a driver’s armrest, two speakers sound system and USB connection,

While comfort package includes electric power steering, leather upholstery and heated seats. Style package gives 15-inch alloy wheels, dashboard gauges, interior lighting (ambient), Technology package includes navigation system and a speaker sound system (seven speakers) all the features come along with LED daytime lights, fog lights and center console system.

Under the hood

The smart Fortwo comes with 1.0 liter three cylinder engine that gives 70 horsepower and 68lb-ft of torque with a five speed automated manual transmission system. The car hits from 0 to 60 mph in 14 seconds with the top speed of 90 mph. The fuel capacity engine is 8.7 gallons and estimated fuel economy is 34 mpg city and 38 mph highway.
The Smart Fortwo electric delivers 47 horsepower and 96 lb-ft of torque through a 55kW electric motor.

Security

It comes with good safety features and they include stability control system, antilock brakes, traction control system, knee, front, side impact and side impact airbags, hill-start assist system etc,

Flaws:

Despite all this, the car has noteworthy flaws too, like:
The car offers unremarkable fuel economy. The transmission is bouncy and jerky and highway manners are poor.

Alternatives

So you think this car has too many flaws? So does me!  Don’t worry, we have plenty more options out there, like Scion iQ, Toyota Prius C or Volkswagen Golf TDI, Mini Cooper, Ford Fiesta, and Chevrolet Sonic.
